The story : Nathan Handwrecker was a Jewish immigrant from Poland.
Being of a large , poor family his dream was to come to America.
A hard worker , Nathan saved his money working in a bakery and finally made his way to America on a ship.
Once in America , Nathan needed work.
He tried his hands at shoe making but didnt much care for that.
He didnt want to live as a slave so he began working at yet another bakery.
That is where he learned to speak English and cook , none other than frankfurters.
In 1916 , Nathan and his wife Ida started Nathans Famous food stand.
With the help of many a friend and family , Nathan and Ida made the business what it is to this day...famous and booming.
