When he talks to his mom and she tells him she wishes he was home for Christmas he comes home , unannounced.
No one really thinks this is a good idea but his mom and stepdad agree to let him stay on some conditions.
It's Christmas Eve and the family all attend church.
Upon returning they immediately realize someone has broken into their home.
Nothing is taken...well , except for the family dog....
Ben believes it is all his fault.
His mom insists on staying by his side while he goes on a search for the missing pooch.

The story : In Chicago , on October 20th of 2014 , 17-year-old Laquan McDonald was shot dead by police.
Laquan was said to have been breaking into cars and when the police approached him , he went after them aggressively wielding a knife.
The police claimed a case of self defense and in that instant , Laquan's death was justified.
It was reported to the public by the police department that Laquan had died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
But after further investigation , along with an autopsy , it became apparent that Laquan was shot a lot more than just one time.
Further and further investigation broke wide open a clear case of complete police cover up.

Eventually Rick finds out about some undercover FBI agents that are all over his dad.
But the FBI decides they can use Rick to their advantage instead to take down some big criminals in the area.
At first he agrees to helping them but when it gets too dangerous he decides to bail out.
By this time though he is in too deep.
With seemingly no choices left , Rick decides that the only way to get what he wants is to begin selling drugs on his own.
By 1988 , at the age of 17 , Rick finds himself in jail.
