This film starts us off at the beginning of per se the remake of this film, not the original 1974 version.
Said to be based on true events.

The story: Poor little Thomas is bullied profusely by many because of his birth defected face.
As an adult, his horrible childhood makes Thomas introverted and violent. Thomas lives with his uncle and a few other family members.
The small family is poor and hungry due to the local slaughterhouse going out of business.
So Thomas's uncle gets the bright idea that the family must kill to eat, so they will never go hungry again.
