Lucky Grandma

The story: Grandma Wong has been to have her cards read.
She finds out that the 28th of the current month is really lucky for her.
To the bank she goes taking out what little money she has and then it's off to the casino.
After a nice winning streak, Grandma loses all her cash and gets back on the bus home penniless.
While on the bus, Grandma has the unpleasant experience of sitting next to a man that continuously falls on her.
Right after realizing that the man next to her isn't sleeping but in fact has passed away, his overhead bag falls into her lap.
What she finds inside that bag and decides to take home with her gets her into a lot of unnecessary trouble.

The Watch (2012)

The story: Evan is a man who loves the town where he lives.
He is always on a mission to contribute to his community.
Evan is also the proud manager of the local Costco.
After speaking to the security guard who works there at night, Evan goes home.
The next morning he arrives back at work to find the police and crime scene.
Evan is told that the security guard was murdered and this completely devastates him.
After watching a news report about the murder, Evan gets an idea.
He decides he will put a neighborhood watch together, to keep a lid on any crime.
Evan is very serious about his idea but only finds four men that are willing to part of the neighborhood watch.
At first, things arent really organized and the four men that participate think that it's just a night for the boys to get together.
But when they find and kill an alien they really get their shit together.

One man sees a giant crate out in a field and approaches it.
Next, he gets himself a nearby crowbar and opens the crate.
Inside he finds an arsenal of weapons.
Everyone gathers around the crate to grab a weapon and just as they do"someone" begins shooting at them...

Dan In Real Life (2007)

The story: Dan is a widow raising three young girls.
For work, he writes a popular newspaper column, on subjects involving family, love, and matters of the heart which is quite popular.
Every year Dan takes his daughters to visit with his parents and siblings for a few days, it is the only time they can all be together and it's usually welcomed.
This year one of his daughters protests the visit, due to claiming to be in love, which Dan does not take seriously at all.
Shortly after arriving, Dan's mother sends him on an errand in an effort to give his daughters some space from him.
While out, Dan meets a really charming woman who he instantly begins falling for. 
When they depart from each other abruptly because the woman is due to be with the new guy she has been dating, Dan makes sure to get her number.
Dan returns to his parents house with the news of meeting someone he really likes, only to just as quickly find out, the woman he is speaking about is actually dating his brother...

The story: Ove is an aging gentleman set in his ways.
To the outside world, he seems a grumpy old man who just isn't happy with anything or anyone.
But no one realizes that Ove yearns to be with his deceased wife once again.
At every chance Ove gets to off himself, someone interrupts him somehow.
Ove considers every interruption just another way to delay him leaving life as he knows it.
But soon, Ove finds himself, without will, of course, helping those around him, making people really appreciate having him around.

The story: After spending the day doing errands, Madolyn returns home.
Later, she makes a phone call to her daughter, claiming she is just making sure she is okay.
Later still, Madolyn is getting ready to have a guest for dinner, when someone knocks at her door.
She opens the door to find a man who wants to use her phone due to his car breaking down and needing help.
Madolyn eventually and hesitantly allows the man inside the house only to become a player in their mutual strange game.

Dark Waters (2019)

Based on truths
The story: It is 1998, Ohio. Rob Bilott is a defense attorney for environmental companies.
Out of the blue, Rob is approached at work by a man with videotapes, from Rob's hometown in West Virginia who claims to need him as his lawyer.
When Rob is too busy and tries sending the man away, he learns that his name was given to the man by Rob's grandmother.
Now he has Rob's attention.
He goes to visit his grandmother and learns the man that asked for his help has a farm that Rob spent much time on as a child.
Rob goes to visit with the man, who wholeheartedly believes that the local DuPont plant has contaminated his land which is killing his livestock.
Rob doesn't want to believe any of this could possibly be true but to help,  goes ahead and gets a report for the man from DuPont.
But that is not good enough for the farmer.
After witnessing some strange behavior with a cow at the farm, Rob starts believing that there quite possibly could be some truth to the man's claims.
Rob decides to take on his case after reading into DuPont's chemical files that at first make no sense.
As Rob continues on, he uncovers a number of secrets hidden by DuPont over a course of many years, putting his job and life in jeopardy along the way but never giving up the fight.

International Falls (2019)

The story: Dee is a quiet married mom of two young daughters.
She works at the local hotel which hosts comedy shows that seem to be the only real form of entertainment for miles.
Dee is also unhappy in her marriage.
On this particular evening, Dee is present when Tim, the next comedian checks into the hotel.
Dee decides to go back to work and catch the show,  later making it a mission to talk to Tim.
At first, things are awkward and Dee leaves but later returns to Tim's hotel room.
Within a very short time, Dee and Tim figure out they really enjoy each other's company.
