Flatliners (2017)


Released September 29th in the US.
Filmed entirely in Canada.
The story: Courtney is a 20 something studying to become a doctor.
One evening while treating a patient a strange thing happens that triggers Courtney to want to try a scientific experiment.
Courtney recruits two other medical students to help her without telling them until the last minute what the experiment will be.
The experiment is to stop her heart and record her brain functions after she has passed.
Then, bring her back to life.
Courtney believes that this could be the start in proving what happens if anything after we die.
While trying to bring Courtney back to life her help recruits one more of their fellow students.
Then another finds out.
One after the other they try the experiment and see positive results in each other.
But soon, strange things begin happening and instead of the result being a good one, it could easily become a real death sentence for them all.

Because of her condition, Stella spends a lot of time in the hospital.
She pretty much knows everyone there.
But one day Stella notices Will, a new guy on her floor.
Stella gives Will the cold shoulder but Will just wants to get to know her.
As much as they can get to know each other, considering they must stay at least five feet apart from each other at all times...

She begs Alex to let her stay or at least allow her to go to work with him as she cannot bear to be alone for the holidays again.
Alex finally gives in and allows her to stay.
When Simka and Latka invite everyone to their home for a party, Louie lets them all leave work early.
Alex brings Phyllis even though he fears she may not be very good company.

The story: It's Christmas in Hawaii.
TC is taking Magnum, Rick, and Higgins to three different places for three different functions via helicopter.
Not close to any of the destinations yet, the helicopter hits a snag and TC is forced to land.
Unfortunately, they have to land on French Island, an old island that the Navy uses for gun practice.
TC is sure he can fix the helicopter and they will soon be back on their way but that isn't the case.
Then they figure, well the island is an old one, that the Navy rarely uses.
Especially at Christmas time!
But....the head of the Navy wants his crew to be the best they can be and schedules some practice on the very same island the guys are stuck on.

After all three of them call up some friends they find they all already have plans so their party plan goes under quick.
Meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. Roper are home for the holidays after a bad time at Mrs. Roper's brothers' house.
Mrs. Roper invites Janet, Jack, and Chrissy to her place for a party and against their better judgment they accept.
But right after they accept the invitation, they get an offer to go to a Christmas party that they actually want to go to.

In the middle of the night, Bart wakes up to use the restroom.
Then he sneaks downstairs and opens one of his gifts.
To his surprise, he finds a fire truck that he is really excited about and begins playing with it.
But it catches on fire and then the truck catches the tree and all the other gifts underneath it on fire as well.

The story: Current weather in Arizona is pretty frightful for it being Christmas time and all.
The weatherman explains temps are in the 80s with a low of 70 and this is much too depressing for Clarence. 
Then the weatherman jokingly mentions snow for the evenings' forecast and Clarence excitedly rushes to get ready.
He calls all his friends, including Belson, to tell them snow is on the way.
Clarence gets outside and warns everyone he sees about the snow.
He goes over to Belson's house and meets his cousin, Mooch.
Belson's mom invites Clarence inside for cookies with the boys.

Then she talks Belson into going to get Mooch a Christmas gift because she doesn't have one for him.
While out Clarence tries convincing Belson that Mooch is a nice person even though Belson doesn't think he is.
Outside the store waiting for Belson, to Clarence's delight, his Christmas wish came true, it begins snowing!
After Belson and Mooch have a fight Mooch walks out into the snow.
Clarence is worried about Mooch and convinces Belson that they should go find him.

The story: It's the first Christmas Will is spending with his Aunt, Uncle, and cousins in Bel-Air.
When he starts talking to Ashley about celebrating he gets worried.
Will believes Ashley has no idea how Christmas is supposed to be celebrated.
He mentions this to Aunt Vivian, who explains that every year they pay a company to decorate for the holidays for them.
Will convinces her that's no way to do Christmas so she sends him and Ashley to pick up the decorations that have been picked out for them, that way they can decorate themselves.
When Will realizes that there are no traditional Christmas decorations in the package nor does the store carry any, he takes Ashley to another store.
But everyone thinks Will went a bit overboard.

Gumby goes on to read that Prince Harold had a sweetheart which he wanted to give a very special gift to this Christmas because it was to be part of his wedding proposal to her.
But he was too poor to buy anything nice.
King Ought wanted to help Prince Harold achieve his wish and explained that he did not need an expensive gift to show his love.
The king tells Harold that the best thing to give his love is a partridge in a pear tree.
But the local store ran out...

The story: While Sherlock Holmes Gumby looks through his telescope he spies the book "Dicken's Christmas Carol" and Scrooge sneaking out of it.
Watson Pokey has no idea what that is.
Gumby explains that he was the meanest man there ever was, who thinks Christmas is a lot of humbug.
Gumby tells Pokey they must follow him and see what he's up to.
While Scrooge makes his best effort to get rid of many Christmas toys he sees a book of Santa Claus and enters, claiming to fix Santa once and for all.
Now it's up to Gumby and Pokey to catch Scrooge and stop him from doing any more damage.

The story: It's a hectic time at the toy store.
Hoping not to get scooped up and bought Pokey decides to hide inside a book of unusual stories.
As he enters he is greeted by a blue seal named Sybil. Then he spies an Eskimo ambulance with sled dogs entering what looks to be "Santa's City".
Pokey asks Sybil if that is where Santa lives and if she thinks he can meet him, which she agrees he can.
But before he can the Eskimo and his sled dogs re-appear, carrying Santa to the hospital.
Pokey and Sybil go to see Santa and ask what is wrong with him.
He tells them that he is very sick and cannot deliver Christmas gifts to all the girls and boys.
Pokey makes a phone call, recruiting a friend to get the very important job done.

The story: It's two days before Christmas and the kids at Pokey Oaks are getting ready for the arrival of Santa Claus.
Buttercup is just finishing her Christmas list when Bubbles explains its a bit late to get it to Santa on time.
Now Buttercup is worried she will not get the BB gun she so desperately wants.
Self-centered and mean classmate Princess overhears the girls.
She explains there is no need to send Santa any letters from her because her father gives her whatever she wants.
This year is no different.

The story: Henry Corwin is a drunk who doesn't have much but is currently holding down a temp job as Santa Claus in an expensive department store.
After his break, which he spent drinking at the local bar, he returns to work a bit too drunk and gets fired on the spot.
When being told by his ex-boss that he has now ruined Christmas for all the children who have come to see him, he responds by saying that the children in that store won't be disappointed in the least.
It's the kids outside, who live on the street in that particular neighborhood that will be the disappointed ones.
Later that evening while drinking his cares away, Mr.C is greeted by carolers at his stoop.
He quickly puts his Santa suit on and goes out into the street to give what little he has to the children.
But he finds a surprise inside his gift bag, a surprise that will make all the needy happy and him a lot happier to oblige their Christmas wishes.

After talking with Jason Walter is on his way.
But while Jason and Maggie are out picking up Ben's gift, Walter returns to their house, threatening to jump down their chimney to his death.

When he does show up he has bad news.
Apparently practicing his "ho ho ho"'s he lost his voice so he can't play Santa.
There are many children waiting to see Santa and when they learn that Santa won't make it a little girl walks up with a sad story about seeing him.
That's when Mama steps in.

About a Boy (2002)

The story: Will is a self-centered guy who has never been married, never worked a day in his life, has no kids and has no idea what his life means.
A couple of his friends decide to set him up with a friend of theirs but they don't mention one thing about her.
She has a child.
This isn't really the kind of woman Will would have picked for himself but somehow it works... well, for a little while.
He does like the idea of dating single women with children though.
So he joins a single parents group to meet some.
After going to the park one day with one of the single moms he met, her daughter and her friends' son  Marcus, they all return to Marcus' home to find his mom has attempted to commit suicide.
Now Marcus' mom recovers but he's scared.
He is worried that she will try it again and he cannot live with that.
Marcus begins visiting with Will just to escape a bit from his nerve-racking home situation and terrible school life.

The Carol Burnett Show : The Visit/ Nobody Does It Like Me/ Morton of the Movies (1974)

The story: Guest star on this evening is actor Alan Alda.
When Carol has the lights over the audience brought up for the Q&A bit of the show, she is asked by one attendee if they can approach her with a gift.
Followed by another guest with a gift and another and one that wants to meet Alan Alda.
Skit 1, 'The Visit' - It's Christmas.
Eunice's brother Larry is visiting this year and she is very excited about catching up.
Eunice explains Mama and Ellen have no idea Larry will be there and they will be very excited.
But when insults fly and tempers flair the day becomes a bust.
Skit 2, It's the night before Christmas and it's pure chaos at a department store. Children are visiting with Santa Claus while a store employee is struggling to wrap gifts for impatient customers.
When the store closes before the gifts are wrapped and all the kids sit with Santa, the employee and the store Santa Claus sing "Nobody Does It Like Me" together.
The second half of the show begins with Skit 3, 'Morton of the Movies'.
Morton and Selma are returning to her place after a night out together.
It's a bit of an awkward goodbye, but they somehow manage to make another date for tomorrow.
When Morton is gone Selma turns on the television to hear the very same exact words Morton just said to her that won her over.
Now Selma feels foolish but decides to watch the whole scenario on tv to see how it turns out.
The next night at dinner with Morton, Selma attempts playing out the scene but makes her own changes.
Carol introduces Alan Alda once again and asks him questions about things.
Then Carol busts out in song, which turns into a tribute to New York City.

She had at one time been on the New York best sellers list with biographies she wrote on some very famous women.
Her current project is yet another biography but its coming slow and her publicist is less than encouraging.
Lee has been busy living a mundane life and is now suffering money troubles.
When her beloved kitty gets sick she resorts to trying to sell some of her books but they don't sell.
She gets the idea to sell a personal thank you note that was written to her by a famous author.
When she sees that this kind of thing has a market, Lee gets an even better idea.
