The story: Lee Israel is a writer.... well, she used to be.
She had at one time been on the New York best sellers list with biographies she wrote on some very famous women.
Her current project is yet another biography but its coming slow and her publicist is less than encouraging.
Lee has been busy living a mundane life and is now suffering money troubles.
When her beloved kitty gets sick she resorts to trying to sell some of her books but they don't sell.
She gets the idea to sell a personal thank you note that was written to her by a famous author.
When she sees that this kind of thing has a market, Lee gets an even better idea.
