Janet Jackson. part 4 of 4 (2022)

Season 1. Episode 4.
The story: In 2004, Janet is dating rapper, Jermaine Dupri. 
CBS approaches Janet to perform, along with Justin Timberlake, on their halftime show.
She rehearsed relentlessly and the performance turned out amazingly.
But, much to her dismay, Janet has an outfit malfunction during the set, which causes overwhelming bad media coverage and trouble for CBS.
A week after the halftime show, Janet was taken off the guest list of the Grammy Awards ceremony.
MTV and VH1 blacklisted Janet and would not play her videos.
Instead of breaking down, Janet stayed focused. She worked and kept close with her friends and family.
Jermaine proposes and Janet accepts. But nothing comes of it and the two break up.
2007, Tyler Perry writes the movie 'Why Did I Get Married?' and gives Janet a leading role.
Then, in June of 2009, Michael passes away from cardiac arrest.
In 2016, 50-years-old now, Janet announces she and her husband are expecting their first baby.
Six months after the birth of her son, Janet goes on tour and she's the happiest she's ever been.
In 2019, Joseph Jackson passes away after battling cancer.
Janet is grateful for all that her father did for her and her family.
Next, she is inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
Janet's influence is one that cannot be escaped.

Season 1. Episode 3.
The story: Janet gets her star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame and it stamps her musical career stable.
Her contract with A&M had run out and all the labels wanted her. She signed with Virgin and became the highest-paid recording artist in history and, most importantly, she had her freedom.
Janet makes her movie debut with 'Poetic Justice', mostly against Virgin's wishes.
Her next moves show a more daring Janet. 
Janet's husband Rene helped change her persona for the public to see by directing her music video for "Again" from 'Poetic Justice'.
Janet appears, very provocatively on the cover of Rolling Stone and it really gets some attention.
She also wins her second Grammy.
Next, Coca-Cola wants Janet to sign with them for a multi-million dollar promotion,
She is just about to sign the contract when sexual abuse allegations against brother Michael come out.
Coca-Cola walks away.
Janet believes the allegations against Michael could never be true.
She, along with her family support him and she still believes in his innocence.
Unfortunately,  all the allegations against Michael impacted Janet's career.
Michael contacts Janet, asking that they collaborate together. She is there to support her brother.
1993, in New York, they write 'Scream' together.
During the making of the video, Janet feels that her brother's recording label was trying to plot the siblings against each other.
Next, the Jackson brothers approach Michael to go on tour with them and have Janet open. He refuses.
They tried to keep their family close but Michael was being held from them, changing everything.
1997, Rene begins getting on Janet's nerves as well as other peoples.
Janet begins tour proceedings for her 'Velvet Rope' album and Rene isn't by her side as he has been for so many years past.
After 9 years, Janet and Rene divorce.

The story: After her failed marriage after only one year, and two failed albums,  Janet was still in need of creating her own identity.
She needed to branch out on her own.
Her first step was to let her father go so she would be able to do what she needed to do.
Janet then called up producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and things got underway.
They saw Janet as someone who was never asked what she wanted to do.
They also saw her fiesty side. She was coming into her adulthood.
Janet worked with Paula Abdul on choreography and the 'Control' album was made.
'Control' sold 14 million copies and finally, legitimately put Janet on the map.
Janet also met and married her best friend, which no one saw coming.
He was by her side all the time and filmed her life behind the scenes for years.
But now that she has become a pop star in her own right, she isn't able to shake the fact that she's Michael Jacksons' little sister.
Quickly she begins working on her 'Rhythm Nation 1214' album, which went on to sell 12 million.

The story: As a child and before her brothers' success, Janet Jackson lived in Gary, Indiana.
She is the youngest of the Jackson kids and was always closest with her brothers Randy and Michael.
Janet saw her brothers become stars due to their father always pushing them to do their best.
After a few years of watching along the sidelines, Janet found herself performing, along with her two older sisters and their brothers in Las Vegas shows.
She was 8-years-old.
Janet didn't actually want to be a performer or singer, but her father pushed her as well.
When her brothers left their father behind as their manager, he set his sights on maintaining Janet's up-and-coming career.
Her intentions were to attend college, but instead, her father pushed her into a television and singing career.
It was not until Janet married in 1984 at the young age of 18 and started out on her own that she began having control over her own life.

The story: Tony is a struggling dancer who works as a dance instructor while he waits for his big break.
When he goes to see his girlfriend Jackie perform in a show, he is taken by the lead dancer, high-class Laura.
Tony makes sure to talk with her and gets her to go on a date with him.
Laura tells Tony about an audition and helps him get picked.
But after the date, Laura begins being difficult with Tony and constantly giving him the cold shoulder, which confuses him and makes things complicated for Tony and everyone he's involved with, making him lose sight of his true intentions.

That's when R sees human Julie and falls hard.
R saves Julie from the rest of the zombies and takes her back home with him.
At first, Julie is scared of R but he finds ways to get her to warm up to him.
When they become friends, Julie asks that R help her get home.
He convinces her she has to stay for a few days longer just so he can spend time with her.

His writings tell of the couple's meeting, her upbringing and family, her stardom, and those pressures.
Her divorce from director Vincente Minnelli and father of her first daughter, Liza, and her release from MGM.
Sid became Judys' manager, best friend, and father of her second daughter and only son.
Family life, friends, and parties, all of which Judy enjoyed.
Things were great in the beginning, even though Judy was always battling many demons.
But as time went on, things got more complicated due to her drug and alcohol use.
Low self-esteem and poor TV ratings sent Judy to the stage, where everyone loved her.

Beth is to go along with him.
But Beth isn't happy, and she doesn't exactly want to leave, but there's no other place to go.
The day Beth and Nick are to leave town, Beth is trying to pack up the house.
She meets painter Sid, who was sent by the realtor.
Carol shows up and gives Beth the unexpected news that Nick had called, telling her he left already.
Now Beth really doesn't know what to do. But one thing is for certain, she has to move out of the house.

High Spirits (1988)

The story: Peter Plunkett owns, along with his elderly mother, a once-famous Irish castle that serves as an Inn.
The Inn hasn't been getting much business and is falling apart, as well as losing quite a bit of money.
When Peter tries to get a loan to keep his beloved home in his possession he is just about turned down.
If he can come up with the cash, he will be granted his ownership.
Peter concocts the plan to claim his castle is haunted, although it is, no ghosts have yet to be seen by the public.
Therefore, Peter, along with the Inn's staff get straight to work, crafting haunting ideas for their next, unsuspecting guests.
A group of American tourists has got word that the Inn is haunted and want to stay there.
There is also a husband and wife who happen to be related to the loan manager, and because of the loan request, they are sent there to investigate the haunting claims.
Just when it looks like the Inn being haunted is a pure hoax, some unplanned ghosts appear, changing everything for everyone present.

The story: In 1977, in Canada, Dorothy Hoogstraten is a young woman, working at the local dairy queen and attending high school.
One night while working a late shift, Dorothy meets Dairy Queen customer Paul Snider.
Paul is a shady character who is determined to make a star out of Dorothy, no matter what it takes.
Reluctant and young, Dorothy goes along with all of Paul's wishes, which include sending off some professionally taken nude photographs of her to Playboy.
Within a year's time, Dorothy finds herself in L.A., at the Playboy mansion, modeling endlessly, meeting many famous people, and working on becoming a Playboy Playmate of the Month.
All of this worries Paul. He wants to be in control of Dorothy, her accomplishments, and her money, which he believes he is completely entitled to.
While people who have got to know Dorothy and love her continuously suggest that she rid herself of Paul, out of guilt, she just cannot.
But when Dorothy finally decides to meet with Paul and cut ties with him, it's the last thing she ever does...

The story: In 1977, Larry Levenson had a dream.
Divorced, father of two young sons who was seeing a like-minded woman, and the two were interested in swinging...
Larry opened the exclusive, Upper East Side Manhattan club - Plato's Retreat, for couples only, where the people could let go and lose their inhibitions fully.
There was a 25 dollar per couple club membership fee which included, a bar, a buffet, dancing, swimming, relaxing and, a lot of human interaction...
Things weren't typical at Platos Retreat, but the people who were involved with it and its scene enjoyed it.
But, like everything, nothing lasts forever, and when Larry became too talky, mentioning his lack of paying taxes on his establishment, everything came to a screeching halt.

These days though, it is a small town on the outskirts of a military base, where tourists do not go.
Darwin hosts one post office, one meeting hall and only 35 adult residents, each with their own story to tell.
The residents do not mind the peace and quiet of Darwin.
Living in Darwin is a certain way of life and, as a matter of fact, they welcome it.

Life on the V : The Story of V66 (2014)

The story: In 1985, John Garabedian, a radio music DJ decided he would try his hands at working in television.
He asked fellow DJ and friend Arnie Ginsburg if he wanted to be a part of his idea, which Arnie accepted.
Now, this was the time of MTV.
But if you did not have cable, or access to get cable, you didn't have MTV.
So John decided, seeing how MTV sucked anyways, that he could do the same thing, only better.
John and Arnie started UHF channel V66, a video music television show based in Framingham and Hudson, Massachusetts, for Middlesex County.
Over time, V66 conjured over 2 million viewers.
The show did everything MTV did and more.
But without being listed in the TV Guide and not having any backing funds from commercial sponsors, the enormously popular show only lasted a year.

But Dwayne is involved in a money scheme, along with said mailman, who clearly is not dead.

He goes on to study at Havard with the intention of becoming a lawyer but he spends almost all his time writing.
When he finally gets a job at the New York Times, it seems JR finally has his foot in the door.
But without ever becoming the famous journalist that he believes he can be, he settles for writing his life story.

The story: As a little girl, Aretha lives a comfortable life with her dad, grandmother, and siblings.
Herself, along with her siblings, are always excited to see their mother, any chance they get.
Aretha enlights in singing at her father's Saturday night parties and listening to her mother sing.
But just weeks before young Aretha's 10th birthday, she unexpectedly loses her mother.
For weeks afterward, Aretha can't get out of her depressed rut but is soon forced by her father to once again, begin singing at their church.
Aretha does this for many years, among other things until her father takes her to New York to help her get a record deal.
But after a while and many records, Aretha isn't singing what she feels. She needs to perform music that she can make into hits.
When Aretha begins trying to break free from her fathers' stronghold, she begins a romatic and musical relationship against her fathers' wishes, which eventually helps send her career in the right direction.

Now the guys Andy works with are set on helping him have sex but none of the situations or scenarios they help him with actually work out.
It isn't until Andy meets and eventually begins dating on his own terms does he find someone he could actually be intimate with.

The story: Martha is a lonely woman who over eats when she is upset.
She lives in Alabama, working as a nurse and caring for her senile mother.
When her friend signs her up for the friendship club, it only upsets her.
But after her friend talks her into it, considering she could meet a nice man who will love her she decides to write.
Ray is the first and only man who writes her back
He happens to be a gigolo, who makes his living scamming woman out of all their funds.
Martha and Ray write letters back and forth for months before Ray comes to visit with her.
Right away,  Martha is smitten and when Ray returns home Martha gets her friend to help her convince him to come back to her.
Soon Martha is in New York with Ray, going along with his scams.
In time Martha even begins helping Ray but when she becomes increasingly jealous and cannot handle sharing Ray, the two decide that the only way they can continue on is if they kill their unsuspecting victims.

The Haunting of Sharon Tate (2019)

The story: After months of being out of the country, Sharon Tate has arrived back at her California home on Cielo Drive.
Her friends Abigail and Wojciech have been house-sitting for her and are there when she arrives.
Sharon is now 8 months pregnant and everyone around her is interested in her well-being.
On the first night home, while playing a game, there is a knock on the door.
Wojciech answers the door and explains to the person the man he is looking for no longer lives at the address and sends him away.
This worries Sharon as well as continuous issues including the death of her dog. 
When Sharon finally loses it, claiming that Abagail and Wojciech have and continue to make changes without her consent or knowledge, she takes some time away from them.
But she is constantly paranoid, having nightmares, seeing things, and convinced that the man who came to the door has it in for her and her friends.
