The story: In 1981, Lorraine and Ed Warren's help is called upon.
8-year-old David Glatzel is demonically possessed and the Warrens are the best choice for bringing in a believing priest.
While performing an emergency exorcism, David's sister's boyfriend Arte, who is very concerned for David's safety, demands against Ed's precautions, that the demon take him.
Soon David is free and things are back to normal once again.
One day Arte isn't feeling well.
He arrives home to the apartment he shares with his girlfriend, also owned by her boss, Bruno.
One thing leads to another and before anyone knows what happened, Arte has killed Bruno, stabbing him 22 times.
Arte is put in prison and visited by Lorraine and Ed.
They know Arte is not possessed but rather tainted with a black magic curse.
The prosecutor is looking to give Arte the death penalty.
So, it is up to Lorraine and Ed to try and prove Arte's innocence while curing him of the curse.
