The story : In 1983 , Alaska state trooper Jack Halcombe is just about getting ready to move and take a job elsewhere for his family.
But first , he has gotten handed a case that no one has been able to solve.
Young women have been coming up missing and then found murdered in the wilderness of Alaska.
When one young woman has experienced some brutal things from a man who offered her money for sex , then beat the snot out of her , and tried to kidnap her the trooper must see if that man she dealt with could possibly be connected to the previous murders.
