The story : Nick Flynn grew up with his single mom.
His dad , spent most of Nicks' young life in jail.
But he made sure he kept in touch with Nick by writing him letters.
Present day , Nick is a struggling writer and doesnt have a whole lot going for him.
He gets a random phone call from his dad asking for his help and then he doesnt see or hear from him again.
That is until his dad checks himself into the homeless shelter where Nick is working.
