The story : Once upon a time there lived a successful attorney named Royal Tenenbaum.
Royal was married to brilliant Etheline and as a couple had three outstandingly intelligent children one of which - a daughter , was adopted.
When Royal loses his career , his marriage breaks up as well.
He leaves his wife and kids and doesn't feel the need to keep in touch with them very much.
Some years later , Royal and Etheline's children are all adults , living their lives dysfunctionally but still in contact with their mother.
When Royal gets word that his ex wife has been proposed to he decides to get himself back into his familys lives and finally get to know them.
