The story : It is opening night for playwright Sidney Bruhl but his play is bombing.
Drunk now he catches the train for home.
When home , Sidney speaks of a student of his who has written the most brilliant play.
Sidney explains to his wife that he plans to invite the student to his home , kill him and then claim the play for his own.
His wife pleads desperatly for Sidney to just become a partner with the student but Sidney will not sway from his plan.
