The story : In 1971 , Freddie just wanted to be rich and famous and get out of the ghetto.
Even though he got accepted to the school of performing arts , he decided that he was good in front of an audience.
He began playing drums in his friends band and when he got lots of attention from women , he thought he should try his hand at being a stand-up comedian.
After a handful of shows , Freddie decided to take his act uptown.
There he was discovered by a manager who got him a gig on the Johnny Carson show.
By 1974 , Freddie was offered the part of Chico in 'Chico and the Man'.
He was an instant sensation.
But always feeling lonely , never feeling good enough and issues with drugs dragged him down to his demise.
