The story : Ellen is a well-mannered young women.
She is living with and working for Miss Fiske , a well-to-do older woman.
Ellen gets a letter from her sisters' landlord explaining that due to their scandalous ways , the other tenants at the lodge they have been living at are complaining about them. Therefore they can no longer stay there.
Ellen asks Miss Fiske if it is okay that her sisters come visit for a couple days. But staying for a couple days isnt exactly Ellens intention.
She is trying to find a way to convince Miss Fiske to allow her sisters to stay indefinately.
Problem with that is , Miss Fiske dispises Ellens sisters and there is really nothing Ellen can say or do to change that.
When Miss Fiske demands that Ellen take her sisters and find the three of them a new place to live Ellen becomes increasingly worried.
Oh now what will Ellen and her poor sisters do , with nowhere to go and all.
