The story : Sweet beauty Caroline is traveling to Cornwall , Britain for the weekend without her control-freak fiance' Ronald.
She has a house in the country there that will soon be on the market and she feels she should visit.
Caroline is informed by the neighbor lady all about the house , including the strange noises that come from the cellar that leads to the ocean.
Of course , in the middle of the night , Caroline is awoken by those strange noises and she goes in to investigate.
What she finds is a couple of mermaids , one being Miranda - Caroline's cousin from another branch of the family...
The two are fascinated with each other , especially after realizing they are identical looking.
Miranda tells Caroline she is so bored in the sea , as all the mermen have gone away for a convention.
So she talks Caroline into agreeing to allow her to take her place on land , disguised as her for two weeks.
Miranda makes a few changes in Carolines' quiet life...
