The story: An elementary English/reading teacher named John enjoys the rewards of his job very much.
Johns's girlfriend - Sara, is also a teacher at the same school, who is equally happy with her job and a great relationship with her soon-to-be-husband John.
On a Friday after work, the couple enjoys some fun together at the local amusement park which will be closing soon for the winter.
At the end of their evening together, John brings Sara home.
As it begins to rain heavily, Sara invites John to stay the night at her house.
But John declines her offer and makes his way back home for the night.
While traveling the road to home and having much difficulty seeing the road due to the rain, John is caught off guard by a large truck trailer skidding, uncontrollably down the road, headed right for him.
When he realizes what he is seeing, he tries to avoid the trailer but it is too late and he soon crashes into it.
The result of John's accident leaves him in a coma state for the next five years.
When John finally awakens from his long-time trance, he finds nothing to be as it was before his accident.
John struggles hard to adjust, not just with all of the things he had loved that he lost, but with a new-found power that he has now incurred due to his accident.
But with this new mind-draining power, will come a very sad and untimely demise for John.
