He lives with Sarah who is only his roommate, although he has the hots for her and she doesn't know it.
When Sarah comes home from a date one night and asks that Joel gets lost for a few hours so she can have girl night with one of her friends, he sees her date and decides to follow him.
Joel finds himself at a Chinese food restaurant, where Sarah's date is drinking at the bar.
Joel believes that Sarah's date is possibly married and decides that he should start a conversation with him that he records for proof.
After the guy leaves, Joel stays and drinks himself into oblivion.
He passes out inside the restaurant stock closet and when he wakes up he wanders into something he wishes he never did.
