Killer Ratings : The Terror (2019)

Made for Netflix, airing on instant streaming May 31st in the US.
Season 1. Episode 7.
The story: People were now obsessed with the story.
All everyone wanted to do was hear or read about what was going on. , ignoring the real problems at hand.
Wallace was afraid that crime would become organized and take over the state.
While the Task Force made every effort possible to take down Wallace, bad things were brewing behind the scenes.
March 2010, homicide judge Cunha ruled that in fact there was enough evidence against the four defendants to stand trial before a jury.
This only aggravated Wallace's health problems which he was being treated for in a hospital in Sao Paulo.
April 2010, Gisele Vaz, a former reporter for 'Canal Livre' became the newest witness.
Her statement was believed to be very important due to the fact that she did not have a criminal history.
She said that in the earlier days of her career on the show, people would indeed call in tips on crime that was taking place and production would put the story together.
But as time went on, things didn't seem right.
In the end, Gisele backed up the idea that Wallace was orchestrating arrests and carrying out violent acts on innocent people for the sake of ratings.
This backed up Moa's prior story of course. , which worked for the Task Force.
Wallace's defense attorney, on the other hand, believed Gisele and Moa were being led to say these things which were not true.
July 2010, Wallace was very ill and in the ICU in Sao Paulo.
It was reported that he was going to have surgery but he died before that happened.
A sad day for all when his body arrived the next day in Manaus.
But the trial went on.
Task Force believed the defendants would all be convicted due to the evidence they had collected.
But when Moa took the stand, the man who had come forward and started this whole thing, he told the jury he was forced and tortured into saying what he said by Thomas Vasconcelos.
He said Thomas told him he wanted to take down Souza and his son, clearly the basis for the trial.
With that final confession of the truth, Moa and Mario were found not guilty.
Mario was released immediately.
Moa was to stay in jail on prior drug trafficking charges.
Then, Raphael was convicted of homicide.
He was sentenced to 9 years.
The trial was over now.
But the real violence Wallace was trying to keep from taking over Manaus was just beginning.
