The story : In the late 1960s , Jean Harris was a divorced mother of two , working as a headmistress for a girls school.
Some friends of hers invited her to a party and that is where Jean met Dr. Tarnower.
The two became instantly smitten with each other.
After not too long , the doctor proposed but Jean was hesitant.
When she became aware that she did want to marry the doctor , he took back his proposal.
After a 14-year relationship between the two lovers , the doctors eye began to wonder and he took to other relationships.
He began seeing his secretary exclusively and because Jean rebelled against that relationship , the doctor gradually began to cut Jean out his life as well as his will.
Dealing with pressures of work and a failed relationship , Jean decided she was going to end her life.
But her life wasnt the one she ended.
