The story: As an infant, little Helen is suddenly struck blind and deaf due to an acute congestion infection.
As a young girl, Helens' parents do the best with her they know how to do.
But they realize their best isn't exactly good enough.
Young Helen has horrible manners and the family just goes along, allowing Helen to act in such a bad way until they believe its time for them to get their daughter some help.
Helens' family recruits a young woman, who grew up blind, to teach their daughter to have manners, eat like a normal child, communicate and try and understand her surroundings better.
