Released September 23rd in the US.
Filmed entirely in Illinois.
The story: In the summer of 1978, a group of young men sees the demise of their favorite hang out, a roller disco called Palisades Garden and just see this to be the very end of their summertime fun.
They realize that the only other place to go skating is on the other side of town at a roller disco known as Sweetwater, but feel that side of town is really not their territory and for a while, they just don't feel comfortable enough to go there to skate.
After some time, the idea of going and checking out the roller disco on the other side of town gets the better of them and they eventually begin to go there as regulars - just not as the baddest skaters on the floor - which they had been known to be at Palisades Garden.
Soon after skating at the club regularly, word of the annual skating competition held at the club gets to the group.
Even though they feel that they are not seen as the best skaters at the club, they do know they love to skate and they are pretty good skaters - good enough to have a chance to win the competition and become the new house skaters.
Much music of the era can be heard throughout this film as well as some really great covers from that time and new stuff - all by artists such as Parliament , Brooke Valentine with Fabolous and Yo-Yo , Vaughn Mason & Crew , Bill Withers , Ray J with R Kelly , The Real Thing , Donna Summer , Keith Sweat , Carl Douglas , Heart , Michelle Williams , Earth , Wind and Fire , Foxy , KC and the Sunshine Band , Kool and the Gang with Jamiroquai , The Ohio Players , Chaka Khan The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra , The Commodores , Chic , Sister Sledge , Johnny Guitar Watson , The Average White Band , and Eddie Money.
