This movie is based on the true-life story and book written by police officer Joseph D. Pistone.
The story: Joseph Pistone is a young, married with children police officer who goes undercover to try and stop some mob men from doing any more corrupt organized crime. Joseph is approached by a man in a diner, who believes that he is a jeweler, a jeweler who goes by the name of Donnie.
When Joseph helps the wise guy get the money he deserves after a jewelry deal gone wrong, the wise guy begins taking a liking to the young policeman.
As Joseph gets closer and closer to his now good friend, he becomes more informed of how things work in the mob, who everyone is and what exactly is going on in these peoples live.
Joseph keeps close connections to his bosses keeping them all closely informed of every move that any and all of the wise guys make.
As much as Joseph believed he was the man to bring these guys down for good, he now believes that he doesn’t want his friend to go down.
Joseph decides he will try to keep his friend from getting busted in the undercover ring he has been in charge of.
