As I understand it, D Argento was not happy with this film and felt it was a failure when it was completed.
Released originally in Italy December 19, 1987 - and then, some years later making its American statement on video in 1991.
Filmed in Italy and Switzerland.
The story: During a rehearsal of an opera-type rendition of Macbeth, the plays star singer gets frustrated with the crows that are on the stage, as they are part of the show.
She is so frustrated to the point that she ends up getting hurt while leaving the opera house and is unable to return to actually perform in the play.
A young woman gets to replace the singer, as she has been studying the part quite closely and knows it by heart.
She feels she should not be the person to play MacBeth but allows herself to be talked into the performance.
On opening night, someone from inside the opera house is murdered.
The young woman is approached by a police officer but hardly questioned.
That same evening, the young woman goes home with her boyfriend and as he leaves her in one room of a very large house, to go to another to fetch them both some tea - the young woman is suddenly tied up in a very cruel way, by someone wearing something over his face.
The attacker forces her to look on as he murders her boyfriend and after the attack is through she is just let go.
The young woman is frightened.
She believes that it was a big mistake for her to have taken on her role in the play as everyone had told her it was bad luck.
Eventually, after seeing visions and being the only human witness to any of the murders the young woman becomes very smart to the murderers' intentions.
