The story: Calvin Palmer lives a fairly good life with his pregnant wife in suburban Illinois, where he owns a barbershop which was handed down to him by his late father.
Calvin can never seem to make enough money. He is always looking for some kind of independent way to make more cash, but nothing ever really works out and just seems to become more of a financial burden than a money maker.
The local barbershop which Calvin owns employs many talented locals who really enjoy working there.
When Calvin arrives at the barbershop one morning, he is met by his financial advisor who is trying to help Calvin get yet another loan from the bank so he can make ends meet and pay the taxes on the shop.
But when his advisor informs him that the bank just will not allow him any more loans, Calvin begins to think this is the beginning of the end for the shop.
Calvin starts to worry that he will lose the shop and all of the people he loves that work there, so he decides to talk with a local loan shark who offers him much money for the shop.
All Calvin wants is that the man keeps the barbershop open and at first he believes that this man will do just that.
But when Calvin finds out otherwise, he decides he just cannot sell but he needs to find a way to keep his business and keep all of his employees.
He just doesn't know how he will do this - not at first anyway.
