The story: Doctor Daniel Potter is a psychiatrist taking on a new job at the Haven Mental Hospital in New Jersey, where the security is all electrical.
He will be filling the spot of a doctor who has left to take another job at a different hospital.
Doctor Potter's new patients are convinced at the get-go that he has killed their former doctor so he could take his place.
The patients vouch to get Doctor Potter for this.
One night, while Daniel is out on the town with his wife and sister, the town encounters an unexplainable blackout.
This gives his patients at the hospital their chance to break free and go forth with their plot to get the doctor they see as their former trusted doctors' killer.
