A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006)

Released October 13th in the US.
Filmed entirely in New York.
Based on truths.
The story: Dito Montiel is a writer living in L.A.
He publicly tells the story he has written of his life, which starts when he was shaken out of his quiet existence by a phone call from his mother and childhood friend who's now in prison, asking for him to go and see his father, who is very sick.
This sends Dito back to 1986, when he was young, growing up in New York, dealing with his delinquent friends, all the bad things that happened, and his father, who never listened to a thing he said.
Dito doesn't want to go home because he left there on bad terms.
But he goes home to see his father and is a better person for it.
