No Blade of Grass (1970)

The story: In London, without warning, a new virus has made an appearance.
The virus affects types of grass that are the main food supplies for most animals that people eat as well as all-natural water resources.
The result is a shortage of food which results in extreme violence, leaving survival purely up to each individual person and situation.
Early on architect John Custance has got the warning that things will get worse and that he must take his family, leave home, and set out for safety on a farm where his brother is.
But along the way, things get tougher than expected, leaving John and his family to make many desperate decisions to survive.
