The Strangers , Bryan Bertino's (2008)

"What you are about to see is inspired by true events. According to the FBI, there are an estimated 1.4 million violent crimes in America each year. On the night of February 11, 2005, Kristen McKay and James Hoyt left a friend's wedding reception and returned to the Hoyt family's summer home. The brutal events that took place there are still not entirely known."

This is B Bertino's directing debut.
Well... although this story is said to be inspired by true events, one is led to believe that this story is told with a few different publicly recorded violent crimes in mind because there is no actuality to this particular story in writing anywhere...
Released May 30th in the US.
Filmed entirely in South Carolina.
The story: James and Kristen arrive at the vacation place they are staying at after a wedding reception.
For some unknown reason, the couple is having problems.
While staying up all night to get some romantic issues cleared away, the couple experience someone knocking at the door seemingly like every hour or so looking for someone that is not there.
Then, they find themselves just being terrorized, by someone or thing disturbing the cabin they are staying in.
After too long the couple find themselves in the middle of their worse nightmares with no found escape.
