The story: A man, his wife, and their daughter have car troubles while on their way to some relaxation time for the holidays.
When the man turns his back on his wife and daughter to use a payphone on the side of the ice-covered roadway, the wife and daughter are mowed over by a passing snowplow.
Four months later, the man decides he needs to start a new for himself without his wife and their daughter.
He packs up some things, sells many things and starts off to a new town.
Visiting with some friends they help him find a house to rent by connecting him to the local Historic Society.
He finds a very old large house he decides to rent, which is shown to him by a newbie at the Historic Society.
Instantly, after moving in, strange things start occurring going unnoticed by the man.
But not for long.
When he does realize some strange going-ons, he contacts the lady who showed him the house in the first place and tries desperately to look into the house's past.
In doing so, he finds some history on the houses' original occupants that make him think that for some reason the ghost(s) here are trying to make a connection of some sort with him.
