The story : In the late 60s , Harold and Agnes Carpenter move their teen son and daughter Richard and Karen from Connecticut to California.
Only sixteen , Richard is an aspiring pianist.
Younger Karen likes to sing.
Richard promises Karen that if she can take up an instrument and work hard at it they can be a musical team.
At school Karen is in band and tries her hands at the drums.
After a short time Karen has taught herself drumming and is now performing in shows with Richard.
When they win a contest they get a recording gig.
After performing an instrumental and told they are not what the company is looking for , Richard insists that Karen is a singer.
After hearing Karen sing , the recording studio is so in love with her voice they want to sign only her.
Richard is okay with that as he is always somehow involved in what Karen does.
Within ten years time , the duo becomes more famous than they ever could have dreamed.
