The story : Original cast member of the California musical 'Hair' who went on to do the show on Broadway in New York until he got canned as well as being the soul energy in a small pop band by the name of Pigeon , Jobriath was a flamboyant , ahead of his time theatrical gay glam-rocker that everyone who knew him loved.
In October of 1973 , Jobriath put out what should have been his first solo hit album with the help of his new big named manager/mostly PR agent Jerry Brandt.
Brandt helped the likes of such artists as Carly Simon and The Stones make a big name for themselves in the states , he seen Jobriath as another one of his diamonds.
But all the hype in the world could not sell his albums....and it didnt help that - 1. Jobriath was a gay rocker at a time when most men were homophobic and 2....you cannot sell albums if you do not perform promised live shows...
Jobriath , born Bruce Campbell was a talented painter, singer , songwriter , dancer and musician with a large presence who never quite got his big break and then left this world too soon.
