The Babadook (2014)

Released November 28th in the US.
Filmed entirely in Australia.
The story : Amelia is a single mom to 6-year-old Samuel.
She has been a widow since the day Samuel was born.
Amelia doesnt take the fact that her husband isnt in their lives any longer very well.
She does her best with Samuel but he is quite needy.
So needy , that he causes problems with school and family.
Amelia has a hard time dealing with all of this , what she really needs is support.
Every night , Samuel must be close to his mother.
He is quite scared he will lose her as well as his dad.
Amelia reads Samuel bedtime stories to help him sleep.
One night after a stressful day , Samuel gets to pick his own for his mother to read to him.
The story is called The Babadook.
It ends up being a very scary story and this doesnt sit well with Samuel.
Now poor , young Samuel is convinced that The Babadook is out to get him and his mother.
This just adds to Amelia's growing stress.
