The story : Born in Philadelphia and raised by his mother , Teddy became a very independent personality.
Ordained as a minister at just 10 years old , Teddy loved singing in his church.
Life around him seemed difficult but he never felt that kind of pressure.
Teddy would often skip school to go see shows.
That's where he seen Jackie Wilson.
This sighting set in motion what Teddy would do for the rest of his life , be a performer.
After meeting Harold Melvin and playing drums for him , Teddy began singing with him and the Blue Notes.
Teddy was the one who was singing and writing the songs that became hits only he wasn't getting that recognition from Harold.
So one day , Teddy decided to go on his own , making the best decision of his budding career.
Next he gained a manager who became his girlfriend and love of his life , but when she was gunned down outside their home one night , people looked at Teddy as having something to do with it.
Soon after he took on Shep Gordon as his new manager.
This sent Teddys career in a whole new direction.
He found himself performing sold out shows which were promoted directly towards women.
This made him very popular and famous but still there were those who didn't know who he was.
After finding himself constantly being harassed by the local police , Teddy was in the middle of lawsuit with them when he was injured in a very bad car accident.
The accident changed his life once again , for the rest of his life.
