The story: Mrs. Flax is a sassy, Jewish mom of two young girls - Charlotte and Kate.
Kate is an aspiring swimming fanatic and Charlotte wants to be a nun.
Mrs. Flax moves her girls whenever things don't sit right with her in her career choices, making it hard for her girls to get settled into a normal family lifestyle of sorts.
But when Mrs. Flax moves them all from Oklahoma to Massachusetts, and many life changes happen for the three of them, Charlotte convinces her mom that maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to stay in one place for a little longer than usual.
