The story: It's Christmas Eve and officers Malloy and Reed are delivering Christmas toys to the needy children in the area.
One young boy they talk to while making their deliveries insists he wants nothing more than a yellow dump truck, and the officers cannot bring it upon themselves to let the boy go without.
But while the boys mother is out shopping for a Christmas tree, her car is stolen with all the toys, including the yellow dump truck, still in her cars' trunk.
