But dad was determined to make his sons stars.
By the time Michael was 10, Motown had its sights on the Jackson 5, but mostly Michael.
Quickly, the boys became rich and famous. Just what their father wanted, but enough was never enough.
When Michael became an adult, he thought he could rid himself of his father's hold by putting out his first solo album, but that didn't happen.

But when he was seriously injured during the infamous Pepsi commercial stunt, he knew he had to do something more to shake his father and do his own thing.
Once Michael got that freedom, his star only brightened.
He lived and loved enormously and became a legend in his own right.
