The story : As a child , little Gilda was always being funny.
She loved making people laugh and she was very good at it.
Her mother thought she was overweight and by advice from a doctor , put her on diet pills.
She had a nanny who was her best friend and an older father who also adored little Gilda.
Tragedy struck when her father past.
She was only 13-years-old.
She went on to perform on stage while still in school and then with many other people in theater performances.
She finally seen stardom and fame as part of the most popular line up of cast members for the TV show Saturday Night Live.
Fame and fortune was nice.
Making people laugh was even nicer.
But all Gilda ever wanted was to be loved.
She had many relationships that never lasted.
But when she took a leading role in the movie 'Hanky Panky' in 1982 , also starring Gene Wilder , true love soon happened between the two of them although Gilda was currently married.
Gilda and Gene married in 1984 but after making their third film together in 1986 , Gilda learned she had Cancer.
This film tells Gilda's story which is taken from her own recordings , writings and home movies also from people who knew her , loved her and were inspired by her.
