The story : In 1990 , David Letterman is hosting the Late Night show and hating everything he does.
Jay Leno has been filling in for Johnny Carson on his ever so popular late night show and doing very well at that.
When CBS decides they want to take Jay Leno , a war to the finish begins between the networks.
Then Johnny Carson announces his retirement and his network is pressured to announce his replacement.
David wants the Tonight show but Jay gets it.
