A Dry White Season (1989)

Based on truths.
The story : In 1976 , history teacher Ben Du Toit at a "whites only" school in South Africa.
Ben has no problems with the African people where he lives , in fact his gardener is a South African family man who Ben has much respect for.
When Ben's gardener comes to him for help because his son was beaten by white police , Ben believes his hands are tied.
Then the gardeners son goes missing after being in a protest of school children for equal rights and he knows that the police are to blame.
The gardener is arrested and beaten to death for going against the police.
Ben is horrified and wants justice for his friend.
He will do everything he can to make that a reality.
