The story: It is the 1950s in Hartford, Connecticut and Kathy Whitaker is a housewife and mother who seems to have it all.
Her husband is an important ad exec and the two are admired and cared for by just about everyone in town.
This is a time when people have many prejudices, especially with people of a different color. But Kathy is a proud lady who sees outside the box and loves everyone as her equal.
Kathy's' everyday lovely life is turned on its upside when she finds her husband has been having infidelities.
She finds the friendship and understanding that she so is in need of, although its with a man of a different color than she.
Everyone other than Kathy has a problem with that which causes even more problems for the innocent people in her life that are hardly involved.
