Divine Trash (1998)

Released January 18th in the US.
Filmed entirely in Maryland.
The story: As a child, John Waters was obsessed with car crashes and puppets.
By the time he was 10, he was putting on puppet shows charging a fee to see the show.
Older still, John became interested in underground films.
After quitting college John decided to make his own underground films, recruiting people he knew from school and around his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.
Many people didn't like or get John's films but many others were fans of his unique work, who were inspired and encouraged by them.
In a 1972 interview, John explained he wasn't trying to prove any points with his movies but only to entertain by making people laugh and giving them a bit of shock for their money.
The shock and humor made outcasts gravitate to John's movies and Divine just happened to be one of those outcasts whom he made famous.
