The story: Married Lou Jean and Clovis are a couple of thieves.
When Lou Jean gets out on parole she goes to see Clovis, who still has four months in.
She explains to him that the state took their baby Langston and he is in foster care.
Lou Jean insists that Clovis help her get baby Langston back or she's leaving him.
Without any choice, Lou Jean helps Clovis escape.
They hitch a ride out of town with a kindly elderly couple but when they get pulled over, Lou Jean panics , jumps in the driver's seat and takes off.
Soon they are found by the very police officer who stopped the elderly couple.
But Lou Jean and Clovis trick him, taking the officer hostage in an attempt to get to baby Langston without more problems.
