The story : Young Chris Cahill is trying to make the US national Olympic track and field women's team but she is struggling.
Tory Skinner has made the team and sees potential in Chris.
Tory befriends Chris when she needs a helping hand.
The two quickly become lovers and just as quickly , Chris becomes emotionally dependent on Tory.
Tory believes one of Chris' problems is her trainer , which happens to be her father.
She talks her trainer into coaching Chris so she can develop her full potential.
But Chris being so attached to Tory only when she needs her takes a toll on them both.
