Made for HBO Max, streaming August 27th in the US.
Filmed entirely in New Jersey.
The story: New York, in the 1970s, Wall Street investors and bankers were ruling the world.
Enter, Gene Mulvihill. Wall Street extraordinaire and businessman.
Gene ran a brokerage firm during the time of penny stock scams.
Robert Brennan, who got his start working for Gene, went on to become the penny stock king and president of Gene's company within two years from his start time.
Before either man knew it though, the company was suspended by the Government due to their fraudulent dealings, and Gene was booted from Wall Street.
So, considering Gene's businessman ethics, he decided to buy two ski resorts in Vernon, New Jersey.
Vernon, New Jersey...an aspiring place where people like Hugh Heffner decided to also expand their horizons.
People in the business truly believed that Vernon would become the next Disney, Vegas, or both.
Now, ski resorts, especially in New Jersey, have downtime during the Summer months.
Gene became the first person to build a snow-making machine to keep his business thriving but that wasn't exactly enough to keep the resorts running fully year-round.
That's when Gene got the brainstorm of building rides....notably water rides and the first of their kind.
Gene built his waterpark out of pure imagination.
He wanted a place where people could go and experience their thrill rides the way they saw fit.
He wanted a place where people could go and experience their thrill rides the way they saw fit.
But a businessman, without any engineering experience, constructing and ruling over a family water fun park, purely out of dreams and thoughts isn't exactly a safe idea.
