Fall River : Mark of the Beast (2021)

Made for Epix, airing  May 30th in the US.
Season 1. Episode 3.
The story: In a prison interview with Robin Murphy she claims she tried to tell the truth from the beginning, numerous times, but no one wanted to hear that.
In 1972 Robin was 12-years-old. Her parents were both absent and left her to cook and care for her three brothers along with herself.
At this time she was sexually abused by her eldest brother and then Andy Maltais, a local man who was 44-years-old.
From early on Robin dealt with neglect and abuse with no one intervening.
This made her a very hard woman that took care of herself however she seen fit , giving her a bad reputation.
When it finally came to Robin being questioned on the murders of Karen Marsten and Doreen Levesque, her claim was that she seen and knew for a fact that Carl Drew killed Karen but had no idea what happened to Doreen.
The DA would not have this story and made sure to get Robin to go along with a concocted one that both women were in fear of their lives from Carl Drew and that he had killed them both.
With only a promise of being sentenced to a maximum of 12 years, Robin went along with the story.
When Andy Maltais began talking to the police on his own he also began incriminating himself.
He was referring to himself as 'Satan' who had since found God...
There had been many claims of Andy to the police about being a pedophile but those claims were usually brushed under the carpet, especially while dealing with the murders.
This helped the police bring him in to the trial of yet another young woman, 17-year-old Barbara Raposa.
Barbara had been a girlfriend of Andys. He helped her at first but further into their relationship things got bad.
When Barbara began seeing another man and thinking of bettering her life she tried breaking things off with Andy. That is when she disappeared.
Weeks later she was found murdered.
Robin was also questioned about Barbara's murder and once more led into saying that someone was to blame. This time it was Andy.
Robin's mindset was just this - she didn't want anyone to have to go through any more pain, hurt or abuse at the hands of Carl Drew or Andy Maltais.
So to end it once and for all, she agreed to help convict both men of murder without having any actual evidence.
