The story: In high school, Vincent Furnier met fellow classmate Dennis Dunaway.
The two had a mutual love for the arts and soon found themselves in a band together.
They became the only teenagers they knew who had a hit single that played in heavy rotation on the radio.
Next, they decided to take the band out of Phoenix and travel to L.A. where the music scene was happening.
With so many up and coming bands on the L.A. scene, Vincent and Dennis' band needed help.
First, they needed to create an image.
Then they needed help with their music and finally, they needed to change the band's name.
Image help came from the GTO's.
Musical help came from Frank Zappa and they changed the band's name to Alice Cooper.
Now they had the look but the L.A. audiences didn't get them.
In fact, the audiences hated them.
Alice Cooper left L.A. and traveled playing around the US, exposing their act to anyone who would listen.
But it wasn't until they played a festival in Canada that their stardom really began.
