The story : The way to make money in the wrestling industry is to be the bad guy.
In the early 80s , Dr. D , AKA David Schultz was one of the best villains in the WWF's world of professional wrestling.
Starting his career in the early 70s , David was taught by a former professional wrestler and it was grueling training.
This made David quite the fighter.
The rules of professional wrestling were always kept secret from the public eye , which protected the business and David was very serious about the rules.
In 1983 , by advice of Hulk Hogan , David was recruited to work with Hulk on WWF.
David was portrayed as an abusive and seriously angry man.
At this time , professional wrestlers were now being sought out and investigated by journalists.
Was wrestling real and were the persona's portrayed honestly?
20/20 journalist John Stossel planned a show to expose wrestling being fake and got an inside scoop from ousted wrestler Eddy Mansfield.
John Stossel was next directed by Vince McMahon to talk with David.
Vince informed David about being a bad ass and giving the journalist a hard time , never breaking character.
So when John made the accusation of wrestling being fake , David made a choice that changed his wrestling career forever.
