The story: Brothers Alex and Edward Van Halen began playing drums and guitar at a very early age.

David Lee Roth began singing in his own band.
Alex and Edward eventually saw the stage presence David had and wanted him to front their band.

David Lee Roth decided that the best name for their new band would be Van Halen and it worked for them.
Soon the group was playing any and all gigs they could, exposing them to many.
They were known to play many covers and slowly began bringing their own original music into their shows.
They were very popular everywhere they played in their hometown of Pasadena.
When they met Gene Simmons of Kiss, he wanted to help them get signed.
