The story: On a snowy Christmas Eve, a poor little girl walked through the snow without any shoes.
Hoping to find someone who would buy some matches from her, she peered into windows.
All she saw were many people and children enjoying the evening.
Freezing , the girl decided to light one of her matches.
What she seen in the gleaming light of the lit match was the warmth of a cozy fireplace.
After the match went out, she lit another and there in front of her stood her beloved deceased grandmother.
The more matches the little girl lit , the closer to her grandmother she became.
