The story : Joanne Van Buren is a social worker.
She has been working with domestic violence cases and is slowly losing her cool.
Her boss assigns her to work with children in the system as a change of pace.
Joanne's first case is 6-year-old boy Eric who has been disappearing from home and being found by the police sleeping at the local zoo.
This has happened with Eric twice now.
Joanne talks to Eric's single dad who assures her there is nothing out of the ordinary or new with Eric.
But when Joanne talks with the principle at Eric's school and she explains that she has talked to Eric's father about his newly withdrawn behavior , Joanne knows dad was lying.
So the system along with Joanne's help , takes Eric away from his father.
